AHU Fan Motor Faults: Why Early Attention Matters

An air handling unit is easy to forget about until it stops. When a fan motor fails, the ventilation, heating or cooling it supports stops with it, and the people or processes relying on it feel the effect.

Warning signs that are easy to miss

Fans and their motors often give warning before they fail. Changes in noise, vibration or temperature can all point to a developing problem. They are also easy to put up with, because the unit is still running.

    Why waiting costs more

A fault caught early gives you time to plan the work around your operations. A fault that is left until the unit stops forces a reaction, usually at the least convenient moment.

    Ways to spot problems early

Two services can help. Vibration analysis looks at how rotating equipment is vibrating, and a thermographic survey uses thermal imaging to show temperature differences. Both can point to problems that are not obvious to the eye. See Vibration Analysis and Thermographic Surveys.

    How EES Electro-Mechanical can help

We work on fan units and AHUs for maintenance teams across Greater Manchester and the North West. Fan and AHU motors are covered by our motor rewind and repair service, and our balancing and alignment work can address vibration in rotating equipment. Our engineers look for the root cause of the fault, so the job addresses more than the symptom.

    Next step

See Fan Units and AHUs, or describe your unit in the quote form. If it has already stopped, use the emergency line on that page.
